Around the Christmas period we went to London for a day. Not only for a holiday or a long city trip, London is ideal, but also just for a day of sightseeing and shopping. You don’t have to take day trips near home all the time, it can also go a little further. This allows you to visit more and more beautiful cities in the world without having to take a holiday for them. Find out more about a nice day in London and how best to fill this out when you go!
Little time, lots to see
Of course, if you only go to a global city like London for one day, you don’t have much time to visit. Nevertheless, we have seen the most important highlights on this day and that through good planning in advance. Think about what you definitely want to see. Make a list of maximum 3 sights. I’m sure you’ll be able to see this one day. Everything that comes with it is nicely taken.
From Belgium getting to London is easy and fast with the Eurostar. This train departs from Brussels and makes you in the heart of London at about two hours. With the Eurostar you can also travel to other cities such as Amsterdam and Paris. Please note: Not every destination can be reached directly from Belgium.
Arriving in London you immediately notice the hustle and bustle of the city. Going straight to your goal is the best thing you do now if you don’t like hectic situations. It is useful if you know that you have to go to the vending machines of the subway right away. Without taking the subway, you’re almost nowhere to get in London. Or not so fast. And let speed be just what you definitely want if you only have one day of London planned.
You may have a few highlights of your own that you definitely want to see in London. Your own top 3 list. That’s how we made it. Our top 3 consisted of the London Eye, Covent Garden and Carnaby Street. There are so many nice things to see and do in London, but it’s better that you make a selection and enjoy it too. You can’t stay anywhere long, but London is perfectly equipped for that. Certain sights you have seen in half an hour and with the metro you are everywhere in a few minutes.
If you only have one day of London planned, we wouldn’t choose to do museums because they take a lot of time, sometimes you have to sit around for a long time and you don’t discover the real London. This is of course different for everyone and it is entirely up to you to complete your day yourself.
A day of strolling around London was perfect for us to discover this city. We actually saw more than we planned. Actually, there’s quite a lot of time in one day to take such a long day trip. It’s no doubt exhausting– but several days london would have been too. Of course we are now stimulated by the city and we would like to return again. A day trip to London is also a good test of whether this city is for you or not, before you spend several days there.
