South America is without doubt one of the continents that is closest to our hearts. The warm weather, the Spanish language and the general atmosphere are one of the characteristics of this continent. Although this continent is more than just its language and weather. It is primarily a continent of extremes and superlatives. You do not only find the Amazon forest here, but also some of the largest waterfalls in the world, the Andes mountains, and the driest desert in the world (Atacama).
In addition, South America also has a beautiful culture and especially rich history. Just think of Machu Picchu as a wonder of the world and the Incas in Peru. Or the found caves in Argentina with drawings made by the Telhuelche. For example, these residents had a history of more than 9000 years. For history and culture you need to go to South America!
It is not surprising that Peru is the first country we visited in South America. Because the culture and history that this country carries has always fascinated us. A visit to Machu Picchu has been on our bucket list for a long time. After some research, a direct flight from the Netherlands (KLM) turned out to be quite cheap. Reason enough to pack our suitcase and leave for this beautiful country. Because in addition to Machu Picchu you can also visit the Amazon forest, the Andes mountains and of course Lake Titicaca in Peru. This is the largest lake in South America.
