Erika Van Tielen’s favourite travel destination(s)
Erika Van Tielen, we know her mainly from television work as a talented actress and presenter. But she’s so much more than that! Erika is also mom of two sons, globetrotter and
! We were allowed to interview this passionate centipede about her favorite travel destinations.
1. Why a blog?
Erika has been writing very much for a long time and a few years ago she finally had time to figure out how to create a blog. Kelly Deriemaeker’s ‘blog book’ has helped her enormously. In the beginning it was a bit of a search for her own style and ‘niche’, but now she has found a nice mix. Erika writes mainly forj un parents. People who stand with their two feet in life. Who want to see the world with (and sometimes without) their children. Travel has always been Erika’s passion. For example, she has travelled professionally for 5 years for Flanders Holiday Country. That’s why she often writes about travel.
2. Travel tips from Erika
If you’re traveling with kids, be prepared. Erika knows all about it with her sons Finn and Rowen. Her advice: always bring enough pampers, wet and dry wipes, water, snack, jars of fruit and vegetable porridge and some toys.
What kind of holiday depends (on the age) of your children. Flying with children can certainly be done when they are aged 0 to 1 years (because they still sleep a lot) but the age between 1 and 4 years is more difficult according to her. Children of this age can’t keep themselves busy yet and don’t sleep as much anymore. As a result, the parents also have little rest. Going on holiday by car is best for small children. For larger children, it’s best to provide more stops and plenty of entertainment.
Choose your destination and stay carefully. Erika opts for sunny destinations with facilities such as a swimming pool because there is always something going on and you don’t have to go far with your children. If you also want to relax as a parent, you should opt for an accommodation that pampers you such as a hotel or a B&B. On a campsite, for example, you often still cook yourself, just like at home.
Finally, Erika feels that too many plans make little sense. You better not have too many expectations as (small) children can come out of the corner unpredictably. Try to enjoy the moment more.
