Where do you eat churros in Barcelona?
I admit it. I (Bryan) have an addiction… Churros. And now we happened to go to Barcelona anyway. And when you’re in Barcelona, you should have just eaten churros. So I just “sacrificed” myself for the good cause and started looking for the best churros in Barcelona. And you know what? I have found the best churros and I share my experience here with you!
Churros is a typical snack from Spain. Actually, it’s just fried wheat dough that is then dipped in sugar. Often this is eaten with chocolate. And in Spain it is even the custom to eat this with a cup of chocolate. When the churros are gone, the hot chocolate is drunk. Sometimes churros is also called the Spanish doughnut. However, why do we not know.
Xurreria Dels Banys Nous
My absolute favorite churros in Barcelona. This case, which has been around since 1968, may not look great on the outside. And especially not big. But the churros there is delicious. Enough dough, crispy and above all the right amount of sugar. And best of all, you only pay €1.2 per 100 grams for it. Which is very little compared to all other outlets. Also the friendly old lady behind the counter is a nice plus and also makes it more traditional. You have to sit there for a long time, but it’s definitely worth the wait!
Address: Carrer dels Banys Nous 8 | Cerca de la Plaza Sant Jaume, 08002 Barcelona, Spain
Xurreria Sagrada Familia
Also this “Xurreria” is certainly not bad! Only the churros is a bit thinner and has slightly less dough. Which makes it nice and crispy. You’re either for it or you’re not for it. I’d rather have a little more dough. This stall located in the park over the Sagrada Familia is not that expensive at all. And certainly not for this location. So if you want to eat tasty churros with a nice view, this is the ideal place.
Address: In the park behind the Sagrada Familia.
Churros on Las Ramblas
On Las Ramblas there are plenty of these things where you can eat churros. And believe us… Don’t eat them here! They’re way too expensive for what you get. The churros is not thick enough, far too hard, too little sugar and above all far too greasy. And if that’s not enough, you’ll also pay €5 for barely anything. This is not recommended. You’d better go to “Xurreria Dels Banys Nous”, which is located in a side street of the Ramblas.
Address: Las Ramblas
Don’t you like churros? Then maybe this is really for you. Here they have quality doughnuts with different flavors. I took the doughnut with raspberry. And this was the best doughnut I’ve ever eaten! Much better than dunkin donuts. Not only are they tasty but they also look good too. This cosy doughnut bar is definitely worth a visit. You can also always take a look at their website.
