What to do in Stockholm?
Stockholm is a beautiful, huge city in Sweden and there is an untold amount to do and see. Here we mainly discuss the best activities that can be done in Stockholm. Have fun with this list!
What to do in Stockholm?
Gamla Stan
Gamla Stan or Stockholm’s Old City is the most charming part of the city. You’ll find authentic buildings, stunning views of the water and countless beautiful souvenir shops selling handmade products from soap to ceramics. There is also the Royal Palace and some museums. Here you have to go for a (half) day.
Royal Palace
The Royal Palace itself is also worth visiting. You can walk all the way around outside, but you can also go in. In fact, the palace has five different museums that you can visit. It also serves as a palace. So it is huge and you are here for a whole day sweet with all the rooms to see.
Skansen
Skansen is Stockholm’s largest open-air museum and the oldest in the world. You can compare it a bit with a visit to Bokrijk but even more authentic. You get there if you like a back-in-time feeling and you like to see old traditions of Sweden. Note: It’s not free!
Vasa Museum
Stockholm’s most famous museum is the Vasa Museum. Actually, we don’t think there’s much going on, but what’s on display is impressive. The museum exhibits the only 17th-century ship that has remained intact. For boat lovers one of the most unique museums in the world. It can be very busy sometimes and you can buy tickets in advance already.

Museums
Stockholm, of course, has many other museums. The most famous and special are the Fotografiska museum, which is one of the world’s largest exhibitions of contemporary photography and the Nordiska Museet which is mainly a cultural museum. Both are more than worth visiting if you are in Stockholm for a longer period of time.
ABBA Museum
One of the newest and most popular museums in Stockholm in recent years is the ABBA Museum. And that’s not surprising since you can see original costumes and gold records from the popular ’70s band. Highly recommended!
Cruise
Stockholm consists of several islands that form the archipelago. It is therefore a must to leave the mainland and book a boat tour to visit one of those many islands. For example, you can go to Fjรคderholmarna on a half-hour boat ride from Stockholm City Center. There the beautiful nature and atmosphere will undoubtedly leave a deep impression on you.
Rosersberg Palace
A boat tour can also take you up to one of Sweden’s hidden gems:the Rosersberg Palace. This palace dates from 1630 and became a Royal Palace in 1762. Here you can still see rooms where time has stood still. Everything around the 1800s has remained well in tact and you can come here, together with a huge park, to admire that.

Djรผrgรฃrden
Djรผrgรฃrden is a peninsula belonging to Stockholm. Actually, it’s part of town. All important and large parts of the city are connected to a bridge, making it easy to move from one part to another. On foot or by tram. This is also our favourite neighbourhood of Stockholm. You can walk beautifully along the water or go to the various museums.
Grรถna Lund
This amusement park is located on the island of Djรผrgรฃrden, so you can sit here on a roller coaster that runs right next to the water. The theme park has been around since 1883 and is a unique experience. We would only go there if you are in Stockholm for a longer period of time.
Hagaparken
Hagaparken is, unlike the previous sights, a bit more secluded but therefore no less to visit. It’s easy to get there by subway and bus. This park is the perfect place for the inhabitants of Stockholm to rest by the water or have a picnic. There are also often events such as sports activities in the park.
Drottningholm Castle
The Drottningholm Castle is just outside the city and is a huge palace where you can visit the palace and gardens in English style. It’s a residence of the Royal family and you can see that. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you have a little more time in Stockholm, you should go here.
Metro
Finally, taking the metro in Stockholm is also one of the highlights of the city. Not only are they very practical but also very beautiful. For example, there is a beautiful mural at various metro stops. For example at the kungstrรคdgarden stop. It is the largest underground exhibition in the world. A must for any art or urbanlover.
