World of Wanderlust – Highly recommended or not?
What?
World of Wanderlust is a book written by Australian author Brooke Saward. As a professional traveller she has an eponymous travel blog that is very successful. In this travel book, she takes you to the best locations and shows you where to eat best in big cities like New York and London. She also gives you tips for when you’re traveling alone or how to convince people to travel with them. And if that’s not enough, she’ll give you fashion tips. In short, this book discusses everything that has to do with travel. A travel blog is cast in a book.
Our opinion
We had high expectations for the book World Of Wanderlust, because Brooke has a fantastic blog. Unfortunately, however, these expectations have not been fully met. The layout is magnificent, but this book has absolutely no depth. There are so many topics discussed in this book that almost no subject is really fully worked out. You’re going to be hungry. One minute you’re reading an inspiring text about travel, and two pages away you’re at a travel guide about London. To then find a few pages on a completely different subject. This is really a missed opportunity because Brooke writes so well and also her pictures are great, but we feel they have just tried to put a little too much into one book. And that’s unfortunate. Should they limit this book to a few subjects, it would be truly magnificent! Now it’s a little cluttered. But despite that, this remains a nice book to read or give as a gift. It definitely makes you want to travel, that’s for sure.

Je kan ‘m altijd eens doorbladeren, wat overigens leuker is dan echt te lezen in dit geval…
